Well worth the money June 24, 2010 Big Bird (UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
After 30 odd years I finally decided it was time to take 'learning the piano' off my 'to do' list and do something about it. My grandsons started piano lessons and were coming on in leaps and bounds using the Piano Time books so I decided this was the route I was taking. The book is great and makes piano lessons fun and interesting. I'm loving it - the book and the lessons!
brilliant starter book January 1, 2010 mum of 2 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I teach piano and find this is the best book for young beginners. By the time we have progressed through this book my pupils are ready to begin Grade 1 preparation.
The children like the tunes, there is plenty of repetition and some fun quizes to do along the way.
All in all I recommend this from 6 years plus.
Piano Time 1 September 30, 2009 Mrs. P. Chan 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is a very practical piano book which is very suitable for yound children. It contains music theory tests and it has step by step learning design. My 7 years old son found it very easy to follow and understand. All in all, it is a very good piano book.Piano Time 1: Bk. 1
Excellent for young beginners September 15, 2009 T. Faux (Bath, England) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I teach piano and have found that this book covers everything needed to teach young beginners, and my pupils really love playing from it. The book is brightly coloured and animated inside and out and contains fun exercises and puzzles throughout that help to build up their techniques and musical theory knowledge associated with playing the piano, or indeed, any instrument. Following these exercises are longer pieces that the pupil can work through in order to develop what they have just learnt. These include adding in new notes, dynamics, rests, chords etc. The book works at a very steady pace; it doesn't jump too far ahead but still challenges their abilities and pushes them further.
By the end of the book, they will have learnt about dotted rhythms, leger lines (and able to play over a three octave span), intervals and incidentals, and is the perfect start for beginners and to anyone preparing for their Grade 1 exam. I highly recommend this book and to accompany it, Piano Time Pieces 1: Bk. 1 is the perfect choice containing longer pieces without all the exercises.
